Policies & Procedures
1. Purpose
The purpose of this is to establish clear policies, expectations, and operational procedures for all participants, volunteers, and spectators of South Brandon Sports.
2. Mission Statement
South Brandon Sports is committed to:
- Providing a safe, structured environment for youth athletes (ages 4–14)
- Promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development
- Ensuring fairness, inclusion, and respect
3. About Volunteering
South Brandon Sports is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization serving 230+ children.
Training and support are provided. Volunteers help ensure:
- Safe operations
- Structured teams
- Positive youth development

All applications must be completed and approved prior to participation.
5. Code of Conduct
- Players: sportsmanship, respect, safety
- Coaches: leadership, fairness, compliance
- Parents: positive support, no confrontation
6. Background Checks, Certifications & Safety
6.1 Florida Level 2 Background Checks
Required for:
- Coaches
- Assistant Coaches
- Board Members (as applicable)
Includes fingerprinting and national screening.
6.2 Coaching Requirements
All coaches must have:
- Certification through National Alliance for Youth Sports
- Current CPR certification
- Concussion training (CDC HEADS UP or equivalent)
6.3 Concussion Protocol
- Remove athlete immediately if suspected
- No return without medical clearance
- Incident must be documented
7. Concessions Policy
7.1 Age Requirement
- No individual under the age of 16 is permitted to volunteer or work in concessions
7.2 Authorized Personnel
- Only approved volunteers may operate concessions
- All volunteers must sign in and be assigned
7.3 Food Safety & Operations
- Follow basic food safety practices (gloves, hand hygiene)
- Maintain clean and organized workspace
- No outside food sales permitted
7.4 Cash Handling
- Cash handling must follow league procedures
- Two-person verification recommended for closing
7.5 Conduct
- Professional behavior required at all times
- No hostile, aggressive, or inappropriate conduct
8. Social Media Policy
- No inappropriate, offensive, or negative posts
- No sharing player personal information
- Only authorized personnel may post on official accounts
9. Conflict of Interest Policy
Board members must:
- Disclose conflicts
- Abstain from related votes
- Avoid personal gain from league decisions
10. Refund Policy
Before Team Assignment
- 100% refund minus $20 fee
After Team Assignment
After First Practice
Special Circumstances
Processing
- Refunds issued via check
- Lost check replacement may incur fee
11. Board Governance
- Quorum = majority (>50%)
- No vote without quorum
12. Child Protection Policy
Zero tolerance for abuse or misconduct.
13. Amendments
Policies may be updated by the Board at any time.
